How to add a logo onto an Instagram post

When I post on Instagram, with all my accounts I post a logo. 
As it is possible for members to re-post other peoples’ articles at least the post has my logo on.

From my Instagram viewers, I have had a lot of questions as to how I manage to post my logo on a photo.

Fortunately,it is very easy.

Firstly there is a logo.
If you already have one,that’s fine, but if not you can either design it yourself (if you have the skills), or you can have one designed on

Secondly you need a photo, and fortunately there are a number of sites where you can find high quality photos.
The main sites I use are :

Thirdly you need to put the logo onto the photo.

YouTube description- 7 tips to help you optimize your video

When posting a video to YouTube,the description is so important.  

After all,YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world, so to be found in the search engines, we need to include a meaningful description.

Here are the things I suggest :

1 Firstly decide on your keywords.

This is a whole subject in itself, but let’s assume you have decided on

“How to make money online”

2 Include it in your title

However, it is better to make it more appealing, for example:

“How to make money online-learn the secrets never revealed before”


“How to make money online-7 simple steps for you to follow”

3 I repeat the title as my first line of the description.

4 Include your URL in the second line including http.

For example, mine is

The reason you want to do it this way is that the format above is a clickable link.

You do not want your viewers to have to copy and paste the URL, because most of them will not do it.

5 Write your description

Ideally this should be between 200 and 500 words.

The important thing is that you should write the description for the viewer NOT for the search engines.

When writing, keep the sentences short.

Use paragraphs with only 2-3 sentences per paragraph.

Your viewers will not read a full page of text with no breaks.

Use bullet points-these make the reading more interesting.

Try to include your keyword phrase 3-4 times in the description, but do not overdo it as it may appear unnatural to the search engines.

6 Include your other social media links

If you are on sites like Facebook, Twitter , LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+ or any other of the major sites, you can show the viewer that you are active on other sites.

7 Include an external link

There are various thoughts on this, but it is something I normally do.

I normally include a link at the bottom of my description.

I go to google and type in the keyword phrase or something similar.

When I see the results I normally include a Wikipedia URL as this is a higher authority site.

How to add a thumbnail on your YouTube video

It is predicted that by 2019 , as much as 80% of the traffic on the Internet will be video.
If this is true,it is important to make use of videos now.
There are a number of video sites,but the largest is YouTube.  

When you’re making a YouTube video the thumbnail is very important .
Basically this is the first opportunity that people will see your video, so you need to make it quite appealing in order for them to click on it now as opposed to the thousands of others.

If you leave it to YouTube, the site will pick an image from your video which may not be very appealing.

What I do is a use a number of different sites to basically have a custom thumbnail.
I personally use pixabay ( ) where I find an appealing image .
These are free and of a very high quality.
I will download this image to my disk.

Then I upload this image into canva ( )where I can basically define it as a YouTube thumbnail which makes it the right size.
I then add any appropriate text and download it to my disk.

I then go to YouTube where I upload the image as a custom thumbnail.

Is Snapchat the new Facebook ?

Nowadays technology is moving so fast that it is essential for the leading players to keep up to date otherwise they will be overtaken by one of the emerging companies.
One of the newer companies is Snapchat and people are asking the question:

” Is Snapchat the new Facebook ?”

Snapchat was started in 2011 by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy and Reggie Brown at Stanford University.
The original idea was to create an application which would allow users to share images thjat were short-lived and self-deleting.

Because the photos are short-lived these would normally be fun photos.
As is often the case with new technology the uses very often broaden from the original idea.
Snapchat evolved into a mix of private messaging and public content including live events such as sports and music.

The company grew quickly and in November 2012 users had shared over one billion photos with 20 million photos being shared every day.
New facilities continued to be added such as the ability to send video snaps in addition to photos in December 2012.

According to Snapchat’s own statistics, in May 2015 users were sending 2 billion videos per day which grew to 6 billion by November.
By 2016, the daily video views had grown to 10 billion.
In May 2016,the company raised $1.81 billion in equity, demonstrating the strong financial interest in the company.

In September 2016, Snapchat Inc. was re-branded as Snap Inc, and the company released Spectacles, which is a pair of smartglasses with a built-in camera that can record 10 seconds of video at a time.
These glasses are being sold in pop-up stores throughout the country.

Recent performance
In the third quarter of 2017,the company reported smaller than expected user growth and a 60% drop in advertising rates.
Revenue was $207.9 million,up 62% year-on-year,but below the $235.5 expected by analysts.
Snapchat added only 4.5 million new users versus the 8 million expected by analysts for the quarter.

In 2014, researchers from the University of Washington and Seattle Pacific designed a user survey group to try and understand why the application was being used.The findings were that users do not utilize Snapchat for sensitive content.
Rather it was used for applications such as “stupid faces” with 59.8% of respondents reporting  this use was the main reason for using Snapchat.
As a result,the study suggests that the success is not due to its security properties, but because users found the application fun to use.

Snapchat’s first paid advertisement was show to users in October 2014, which was a movie trailer for the horror film Ouija.
Like all companies, it recognizes the need for a revenue stream.
In 2015,McDonalds paid for a branded geofilter covering its restaurant locations in the United States.
Initiatives continued to earn revenue, one of which involved the National Football League to present live stories from selected games.
In 2016 the company announced a deal with NBC Olympics to allow stories from the 2016 Summer Olympics to be featured on Snapchat in the USA.
The stories covered a combination of footage from NBC,athletes and attendees.In addition,NBC sold advertising.

The Future
Snapchat is still a very young company, and since it’s listing it is experiencing what many young companies face :
Analyst expectations.

Because it is in a high growth sector,expectations are high,which can be cruel on the company.
In order to counter slow growth,the Snapchat app is being redesigned to make it “easier to use”.
There is no doubt that it has faced increasing competition from Instagram,which is owned by Facebook.

It will be interesting to see whether Snapchat can improve performance on it’s own.
Or,will it need to be taken over (like Instagram) in order to be able to have the financial backing to succeed ?
2018 will certainly be an interesting year for Snapchat.

Social media trends for 2018

We are all aware how quickly things change in the social media arena.

Here are some trends for this coming year:


Undoubtedly Instagram has grown significantly and within that ,Instagram Stories is really growing.

Daily viewers of Instagram Stories surpassed daily SnapChat viewers just one year after launch, and the growth isn’t stopping.

Instagram Stories was the biggest single change in the Instagram space, and its marketing implications are huge.

A huge deal with Instagram Stories is this: accounts with over 10,000 followers can now add a link within the feature. Considering the fact that the only other place you can put a link on Instagram is just the one buried on your profile page, this is a huge deal, as it multiplies buying or inquiry opportunities by orders of magnitude.

Instagram Stories in particular will be relevant from a marketing perspective because, compared to other transitory video platforms, Instagram metrics are eminently trackable.


There is likely to be a lot more live streaming this year, and the people who do it well will be fully with the times and accelerating. Its prevalence will increase because it works.

Live streaming is a medium of social technology that’s uniquely positioned to take advantage of hardware improvements for the next several years. The resolution of an image the size of a phone screen can only get so good before you have to zoom in to see a difference.


Twitter has fallen behind the other major platforms.

It needs to make some major changes as it’s growth is the slowest of all the major social media platforms.


Facebook is at the centre with Facebook Spaces, but there are other technologies.

As in all such markets, some of these will succeed while others fall by the wayside.


The major players are WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and WeChat.

This is no longer a small market as messaging apps are used by over 4 billion users worldwide.


It is believed that this will be the year for AR.

A few years ago, Google came out with a pair of glasses—Google Glass—that promised to bring augmented reality (AR) to the mainstream and change how we live and interact with each other. Unfortunately, it was not successful.

However, a number of companies including Facebook, Google and Snap are entering the arena.

After a handful of highly successful AR apps, rising sales of VR headsets, and greater technological sophistication (including faster internet speeds and better visual rendering), 2018 could finally be the year that AR takes off.


In the social media arena there are a number of established suppliers like Facebook, Twitter, Google, Pinterest and LinkedIn.

Then there are newer players like Instagram and SnapChat.

It is difficult to predict the winners and losers, but part of the success will depend on the suppliers’ abilities to adjust to current trends, as well as how they adapt to future trends.

It will be interesting to see who has won and who has lost at the end of 2018.
