I have written a number of articles and made some videos on how to get more traffic to our web sites. A site which may be new to you is Quora. I have been using this site for some time now and have been pleasantly surprised by the good results.
If you haven’t used it before it is a question and answer site, where people ask all sorts of questions and other members answer the questions. It is not just for the Internet, but for other business-related matters as well as personal matters.
Here are the steps I suggest.
1 Set up your account-it is free to join.
2 Set up your profile– as with other sites it is best to include a photo to make it more personal.
Add your interests so that other members can see what you do.
Also add a link to your web site or blog.
3 Add what you know about.
This is how Quora know what questions you may answer.
For example, you may be interested in Search Engine Optimization and Video Marketing.
4 Follow other members
If you have a particular interest, e.g., SEO and you know somebody in that sector then follow them. It will be worth looking at their profile to monitor their activity.
5 Take a good look around the site.
Before starting your activity, it is well worth looking at the sort of questions being posted as well as the answers.
6 Start to answer questions
This is how you will attract traffic to your site so it is worth spending time on this activity. To get noticed you need to answer questions that attract a lot of interest as well as being topical.
Perhaps you want to answer questions on Instagram, in which case enter that into the search bar at the top and you will see all the questions and answers.
Personally, I look for posts that have a lot of answers so that my answer will also be seen by a lot of members. I concentrate on quality rather than quantity, by which I mean that I write fewer articles comprehensively rather than answer lots of questions for the sake of it.
7 What to include in your article
I try to answer the question as fully as possible, rather than writing just a few words. My main aim is to inform NOT TO SELL. The only time I promote is if somebody has asked a particular question and I have written an article or made a video.
For example if somebody asks the question :
“How do I post my YouTube video to social media sites?”
I would answer that this can be done within YouTube without using software.
As I have written an article and made a video I would add :
“If you would like to see how this is done please visit …… where I include my link.”
I am finding that using Quora has been beneficial and has the following benefits :
1 More traffic to my site-in order for this to be successful, consistency is the key.
You don’t have to answer lots of questions, but be consistent and answer a few each week.
2 Learning a lot- just by reading other people’s answers I have extended my knowledge, which I can use in my business.
3 Ideas for posts-as people are asking topical questions,it has given me lots of ideas about my future posts.
